Islamabad: As many as 6,000 policemen would stand alert in the twin cities to ensure security to 3,020 mosques, 128 Imam Barghas, 200 business and trade centres and 24 Ramazan Bazaars during the holy month of Ramazan.
A total of 3,500 police personnel have been deputed in Rawalpindi who would provide security to 2,088 mosques, 87 Imam Barghas, 16 Ramazan Bazaars and 120 markets and commercial centres while 2,500 policemen in Islamabad have been assigned the task to ensure security of 932 mosques, 41 Imam Barghas, 80 business and trade centres and eight Ramazan Bazaars.
Special police strength has been called from Police Line Headquarters and provided to various police stations with the purpose to ensure effective security duties in the city. The traffic police in the twin cities have also devised a plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic, with additional staff guiding road users during the rush hours.
Plain-clothes police personnel will also be deployed in the markets that would help provide safe environment to the shoppers. There will be no permission to park vehicles, motorcycles, cycles and handcarts near mosques and Imam Barghas. The security personnel will use metal detectors at the entry points of the mosques and Imam Barghas.
