Human Rights Day: Official says govt committed to safeguarding human rights
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director General Law and Human Rights Ghulam Ali has said that the government is committed to safeguarding human rights across all segments of the society.
Speaking at an event at the University of Peshawar to commemorate International Human Rights Day, he reiterated the importance of collaboration between government bodies, civil society and educational institutions in building a more equitable and just society.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate General Law and Human Rights in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and Blue Veins had jointly organised the event.
Rizwanullah, the NCHR Regional coordinator, Qmar Naseem of Blue veins, representatives from PCSW, Child Protection Commission, Asim Imam commissioner RTS KP, human rights activists, university staff and students.
The event was aimed at fostering awareness about human rights, highlighting ongoing efforts for human rights and promoting a collective commitment for upholding human dignity and justice.
“This day serves as a reminder that the protection and promotion of human rights require consistent and collective efforts. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to ensuring justice, equality, and inclusion for all,” the DG said.
The programme featured thought-provoking panel discussions, speeches, and interactive sessions focusing on this year’s Human Rights Day theme: Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All.
