Productive content on social media advocated
Islamabad : Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Wednesday encouraged TikTok to utilise its platform for educational purposes.
During a meeting with a TikTok delegation led by Director of Public Policy Emir Gelen, the minister said TikTok could be an effective tool for teaching various skills and basic education, and the Ministry of IT would fully support TikTok in this endeavour. The discussion centred on the availability of quality, productive content on social media platforms. IT secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan was also present.
The TikTok team updated the minister on initiatives in Pakistan and shared plans for future programmes.
Shaza Fatima stressed the need to ensure access to quality content, highlighting TikTok's significant user base in the country. The delegation reassured the minister that promoting educational and meaningful content would be a priority and expressed their eagerness to collaborate with the Ministry of IT and Telecom and its related departments to achieve those objectives.
