LAHORE:A man and a woman were found dead at different locations here on Sunday. A 45-year-old man found dead on Sheesh Mahal Road, Data Darbar, while the body of a woman was recovered near Kahna. Police said that both the victims were addicts and died of excessive use of drugs. Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies, yet to be identified, to morgue.
52,334 drug pushers detained in 10 months
Punjab Police detained 52,334 drug peddlers and booked 51,618 ones in 93,209 raids this year so far. The police seized 31,855 kg charas, 972 kg heroin, 1,437 kg opium, 409 kg crystal meth (ice), and more than 847,000 litre liquor from the accused.
More than 1,269 individuals were admitted to rehabilitation centres for drug addiction treatment. According to a Punjab police spokesperson, the Lahore police conducted 8,547 raids and detained 8,832 drug peddlers and booked 8,546 ones, and recovered 6,512 kg charas, 257 kg heroin, 314 kg opium, 159 kg ice and 59,298 litre liquor from the accused.
