Teachers call off strike
PESHAWAR: The protesting teachers of primary schools Saturday called off their strike and sit-in and they will resume their duties from Monday.
Member Provincial Assembly Arbab Sher Ali was instrumental in convincing teachers to end their strike on the assurance that all their demands would be accepted within one month.
Talking to The News, All Primary Teachers Association (APTA) President Azizullah Khan said that they held several rounds of meetings with the officials of the education department and Arbab Sher Ali on part of the provincial government.
On Friday night, Arbab Sher Ali assured the teachers their demands would be met. On Saturday, the MPA visited the protest camp once again and addressed the protest gathering.
The teachers were on strike for the last five day. They were demanding implementation of the upgradation plan already approved by the previous government. The teachers had closed all the public sector schools across the province.
