HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Commissioner Bilal Ahmed Memon on Thursday said the Sindh chief secretary has issued special directives to complete the Autobahn Road project as soon as possible.
The commissioner formed a committee headed by the deputy commissioner, and comprising all the stakeholders that would solve the encroachment problem and the other hurdles of the project.
Memon chaired a meeting at his office in Shehbaz Building regarding the resolution of the issues being faced in the Autobahn Road project. He ordered PTCL, Sui Gas and other departments to shift their supply lines as soon as possible so that development work can continue without any delay.
He also directed the officers concerned to hold a meeting with the revenue department for the acquisition of the land required for the Autobahn Road project. Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abideen Memon said that it took a lot of time to shift the electricity poles from Autobahn Road, and now PTCL, Sui Gas and WASA has been asked to shift and repair their supply lines before the carpeting of the road.
He said all stakeholders are being kept in the loop so that the construction of the road can be completed as soon as possible. The project will be more sustainable if all the stakeholders cooperate, he added.
He pointed out that roads get damaged mostly due to a lack of departmental coordination. He also directed the representative of the SITE Association to remove the old water supply line and construct a new one.
