WSSP officials directed to complete ongoing projects
PESHAWAR: Chief Executive Officer of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) Yasir Ali Khan has directed officials of the company to ensure effective utilisation of the available resources to complete ongoing projects on time.
Emphasising the need to restore drainage systems and clear obstructions in high-risk areas, the chief executive assigned specific tasks to officials during the monthly review meeting for the month of October on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including General Manager (GM) Operations Muhammad Ijaz, GM Planning Monitoring Evaluation and Research (PMER) Zamirul Hassan, GM Projects Dr Mehboob Alam and zonal managers Basit Khattak, Tariq Aziz, Anwarul Haq, Amir Gul Khattak, Dr Maria Shehnaz and others.
Yasir Ali Khan lauded the WSSP’s progress in revenue recovery over the past month and instructed officials to identify commercial establishments and plazas yet to be integrated into the revenue network and expand the revenue base of the city.
Officials provided updates on projects under the second phase of the Peshawar uplift Program and the Annual Development Program, several of which are close to completion. Among these, rehabilitation work on Shahi Khatta will get underway soon.
The meeting also reviewed WSSP’s October achievements, including daily water production of 52.4 million gallons, 93 quality tests, the collection of 13,135 tons of waste, and the cleaning of 4,519 kilometers of roads, 1,620 manholes, and 242 kilometers of drains. Furthermore, WSSP conducted dengue prevention spraying at 371 locations across the provincial metropolis. Of the 1,533 public complaints received, 1,466 were resolved, reflecting 95.63 percent resolution rate, alongside a revenue recovery of Rs25.2 million.
He also lauded the company’s performance despite various challenges, advocating for improved communication between management and staff to maintain efficiency without increase in the workload. He urged the immediate allocation of available funds, prompt construction of workshops, and ongoing maintenance of all waste collection vehicles and equipment.
