Robbers loot cash van
Islamabad : A surge of daring daylight bank robberies has rattled Islamabad, with armed gangs targeting cash vans and private banks across the city, creating panic among citizens. The latest attack occurred in G-9’s main market on Tuesday, where robbers opened fire, looted a cash van belonging to a state-owned bank, and injured several guards in the process.
In the G-14/4 area under Sumbal police jurisdiction, a private bank security guard was shot, and robbers looted Rs187,200 from the cash counter before fleeing. Police sources disclosed that CCTV footage captured a young suspect, between 30 and 35 years old, operating alone across multiple city locations with a backpack, targeting both cash vans and bank branches. The latest incident left one person dead and six others seriously injured, including guards and shopkeepers caught in the crossfire.
Police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to PIMS, where one guard remains in critical condition. Police investigations suggest that these robberies are not isolated incidents but may be linked to outside gangs tracking cash vans across the city.
