LAHORE
The Punjab government has approved special allowance for cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to attract them for posting at Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology (WIC) recently completed with a total cost of Rs 1,800 million.
This was decided in a meeting of special committee to thrash out the matter and facilitate the posting of specialist doctors at Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, according to a handout issued on Tuesday. Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmed Khawaja chaired the meeting. Secretary Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah, Additional Secretary (Admn) S&GAD Punjab Sahibzadi Waseema Umer, Additional Secretary Finance Khalid Nawaz Arabi and other members of the committee constituted by the CM attended the meeting.
The committee decided to offer special allowance facility to those cardiologists and cardiac surgeons who would opt for their posting at Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology so that the indoor treatment facility in this institute be materialised as early as possible. The meeting was informed that, till now, the OPD and diagnostic facilities are being provided to the patients coming to Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology as only two out of 20 specialists have joined there.
