Tarar credits govt for successful hosting of SCO summit
He regretted political posture of PTI, saying party lacks patience and does not listen to stance of others
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, while speaking on floor of the National Assembly on Thursday, said that despite efforts of a particular party to sabotage the SCO meeting, the government successfully conducted the event in Islamabad.
“The opposition party has not been able to digest the successful conduct of SCO meeting in Islamabad,” the information minister said, adding that an organised attempt was made to sabotage the SCO summit
Responding to points raised by the Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan in the National Assembly, he regretted the political posture of PTI, saying the party lacks patience and does not listen to the stance of other political parties. “The PTI leadership not only lacks tolerance but it has also poisoned the peaceful environment of politics and played with political traditions in the country,” he said.
Tarar regretted that the PTI leaders in their tweets speak against army chief, state, government agencies and politicians but they don’t issue any statement against Goldsmith who openly supported Israel and said that they would destroy Palestinians. He said they wrote to IMF and wanted Pakistan to default but did not attend the APC on the Palestine because they have relations with oppressors.
The information minister pointed out that the PTI is perturbed over the successful conduct of the SCO meeting, which recognised Pakistan’s role in the region. He said the economic indicators are on the positive trajectory with remittances registering a record increase, inflation coming down to single digit and surge in foreign exchange reserves. Meanwhile, the National Assembly also passed a resolution on the successful hosting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The resolution was presented by Minister for Information and Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar.
The National Assembly extended its congratulations to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government and the people of Pakistan on the successful hosting of the 23rd Council of Heads of Government of the SCO.
