ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the most important forum of National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST) has not been held in the last 22 years.
According to sources, the last meeting of the National Commission for Science and Technology was held in 2002. New innovations are coming in science and technology every day and the meeting should be held regularly.
During the Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s government 22 years ago, the meeting of National Commission for Science and Technology was held under the chairmanship of the then-prime minister. According to the sources, the prime ministers who came in the last 22 years probably did not have time for the promotion and development of science and technology or they were not interested in the development of this sector. Due to this, the meeting of the National Commission for Science and Technology could not be held.
The Ministry of Science and Technology prepared the agenda for this meeting with the support of PCST and it was sent to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat in the past, but the meeting of this very important forum could not be held.
According to sources, the last meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Commission for Science and Technology was held in 2016.
