Rawalpindi:Postmaster General Northern Punjab Circle, Muhammad Zaheer said that the rates of Pakistan Post are the cheapest and affordable even today, says a press release.
He stated this while addressing a flag hoisting ceremony at Rawalpindi GPO on the occasion of World Post Day, he said that despite the rapid changes of the modern era, the usefulness of the postal services is unquestionable in all respects.
Deputy Postmaster General, Arshad Khan, Noorul Saba, Chief Postmaster Asma Noorin and other officers, students of different schools and customers especially fans of commemorative tickets attended the ceremony.
On this occasion, a cake was also cut to mark the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).Over five million employees associated with this organisation have connected the entire world, the Postmaster General said adding, the countries that do not trade with each other also exchange mail. He further informed that a normal postal envelope of Rs20 is delivered all over the country and special efforts are being made for the improvement of the services.
After the digitalisation process of the institution is completed, the mail delivery in any post office would be able to be tracked, he informed. Deputy Postmaster General Arshad Khan conveyed the message of Director General, UPU and informed about the new facilities being provided to the people. He said that Pakistan Post is providing postal services to the public through GPOs across the country on Sunday. Nadra counters were opened in GPOs to facilitate the citizens and the Postal Museum at GPO also remained a centre of public interest, he added.
