Nooh wins more medals in powerlifting championship
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Nooh Dasatgir Butt made an impressive debut at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship, winning gold in both the classic and equipped categories.
This marks Butt’s first venture into powerlifting after switching from weightlifting. In the equipped 120+ kg category, Butt dominated the competition, securing four gold medals. His strong performance began with an impressive squat of 340 kilograms, earning him his first gold.
He followed this with a 210-kilogram bench press, claiming another medal, and finished strong with a 300-kilogram deadlift, adding to his haul. Butt totaled 850 kilograms in the equipped division, securing the overall title at the championship. He also excelled in the classic class, winning three golds and one bronze, further solidifying his reputation as a top powerlifter. In total, Butt claimed seven golds and one bronze at the championship.
