ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) plans to share digital census data with public and private sector departments.
Though no details of microdata and identifications of individuals or entities have been shared, the plan aims to initiate evidence-based research and improve policy formulation interventions. “For the first time, the digital census was conducted in the country, and now PBS possesses data of different sectors which would be shared with public and private departments,” PBS Chief Statistician Dr Naeem-uz-Zafar said while briefing reporters on Friday.
Meanwhile, the first-ever Data Fest 2024 is scheduled for October 20-21 at the Pak China Friendship Centre in Islamabad. It will bring together data producers and users from various sectors to foster innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. The Data Fest will serve as a marketplace for data exchange, promote data-driven innovation, foster data literacy, and showcase the benefits of data integration and visualisations. Data Fest 2024 is Pakistan’s premier data-driven event, bringing together experts, policymakers, innovators, and stakeholders to harness the power of data for national
development.
