BANNU: A joint operation conducted by police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday led to the recovery of a customs inspector.
Customs Inspector Tufail Khan was performing duty at the zero point along the Pak-Aghan border at Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan tribal district. He was kidnapped by armed men in the Mir Ali town.
The kidnappers had later demanded Rs15 million ransom for the release of the official.Bannu Regional Police Officer Imran Shahid took notice of the incident. He directed the North Waziristan District Police Officer Rokhanzeb and other relevant officials to recover the kidnapped official safe and sound.
The CTD and the North Waziristan police traced the whereabouts of the kidnapped official.An intelligence-based operation was conducted at Zakhikhel in Khajoori.A fire was exchanged between the kidnappers and the law-enforcement agencies personnel. The kidnappers fled the scene, leaving behind the customs official who was recovered safely.Bannu RPO Imran Shad praised North Waziristan DOP Rokhanzeb, Superintendent of CTD Mujeebur Rehman, and all those cops who ensured the recovery of the Customs official.
