13,124 criminals arrested across Punjab this year
LAHORE:Punjab Police dismantled 5,351 criminal gangs involved in serious criminal activities and arrested 13,124 criminals throughout the province this year.
Properties valued at Rs5.8 billion, including stolen goods, were recovered from these criminals. The recovered items included 1,514 vehicles, 23,062 motorcycles, gold, 9,496 mobile phones, and 4,755 livestock, all of which are being returned to their rightful owners. In Lahore, 3,049 gangs were eliminated, resulting in the arrest of 6,782 suspects, with properties worth over Rs270 million recovered.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar praised the police teams and stressed the need for further acceleration of intelligence-based operations and crackdowns on organised crime. He directed that habitual criminals involved in robbery, murder, abduction, and other serious
offenses must be brought to justice.
