3 cops injured in Bajaur blast
KHAR: Three cops sustained injuries when the vehicle of Loisam Police
Station was targeted with a roadside bomb in Bhai Chena area in Khar
tehsil, the headquarters of Bajaur tribal district, on Saturday.
Three police personnel were injured in the blast, while the station house officer (SHO) remained unharmed, police officials said, adding the vehicle was severely damaged.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Aziz said that SHO Shahpur Khan’s vehicle was on a routine patrol when it was targeted through an improvised explosive device in the Bhai Chena area.
Three cops sustained injuries in the explosion and the SHO remained safe, he added.
Soon after the incident, he added, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and launched a search in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
The attacks on cops have increased in
Bajaur district and elsewhere in the province in recent days.
A cop identified as Tahir Rehman embraced martyrdom a day earlier in a targeted attack in the Sheikh Killay area of Khar.
