KARACHI: The coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday condemned the resolutions passed against party chief Altaf Hussain by the provincial assemblies of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Expressing concern over the censure motions moved against Altaf Hussain, members of the coordination committee stated if the members of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had any sympathy for the armed forces, they would first move a motion against the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who had openly declared the armed forces and generals as cowards in a recorded statement.
The members said, instead of blasting the MQM, the members of the KPK assembly should also have passed a resolution against former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan who too in an interview had used derogatory remarks against the Pakistan Army.
“If they feel sorry for the armed forces, they should have also passed a resolution against the Taliban who slit the throats of innocent schoolchildren, murdered army personnel, who attack mosques, spiritual leaders and holy places,” said a statement issued on Monday. “But they do not do so because they are cowards. Both the JI and PTI openly support these Taliban who have caused so much bloodshed in the country. These standards prove how prejudiced these people are and have no real loyalty toward the institutions that safeguard the borders of the country and its people.”
A member of the MQM central executive committee, Amin-ul-Haq, said instead of confronting the MQM, the KPK Assembly should have passed a resolution against the JI.“It was only the MQM who first supported and endorsed operation Zarb-e-Azb in the country and staged rallies in its favour,” he said. “Quaid-e-Tehreek Altaf Hussain has always followed the footprints of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan who believed in peaceful policies and by passing the resolution they have hurt the spirits of their founder and leader.”
