PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday opposed the permission to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to arrange the public meeting.
“The PTI should not be allowed to hold a public meeting keeping in view the foul language which is used during these gatherings,” he said while talking to a private news channel.
He was referring to the public meeting the PTI has announced to hold in Lahore on September 21.
The governor was critical of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his recent statement wherein he (CM) had announced holding talks with the Afghan government to ensure peace in KP.
“Two [central] governments talk to each other. But the [KP] chief minister has said he will talk to the Afghan government. Gandapur seems to be the chief minister of a province of Afghanistan,” he said.
Kundi said he held a constitutional office and would never allow any unconstitutional actions in KP. “However, I will back any measure meant for peace and development of the province,” he explained.
The governor was critical of the attitude and actions of the chief minister. “I remained positive about him (chief minister) after assuming my office. But he misconstrued this positivity,” he said.
The chief minister has always used harsh language against the governor, who like him, too belongs to Dera Ismail Khan.
Only a day before Gandapur had termed Kundi an idle man who had nothing to do except for making statements to get the media attention.
