Suspect dies in police custody

LAHORE : An under custody suspect involved in injuring a citizen died due to alleged torture by Sundar police.

According to Sundar police, a man identified as Yaqoob was detained by the Investigation police on charges of threatening and injuring a citizen. According to police, his condition suddenly worsened and he was shifted to hospital where he died. Body was shifted to morgue.

Assault attempt: suspect held

Ghaziabad police arrested a man who attempted to commit unnatural offence with an eight-year-old child.

The victim went out of the house to get something when the accused Ajmal Shehzad lured him to his quarter where he attempted to sexually assault him.

Police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim's father Atiqur Rehman.

Man found hanged in his house

A man was found hanged in his house in Defence Phase-4 here on Sunday. The victim was identified as Gauhar. His wife and daughter were not at home at the time of the incident.

Upon returning home, they discovered his body hanging from a ceiling fan and immediately informed the police.

A forensic team collected evidence from the scene. Police stated that it is yet to be determined whether the man committed suicide or was murdered.

13 die in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,294 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these accidents, 13 people died, whereas 1,366 were injured. Out of these, 585 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 781 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Woman hit to death

A 20-year-old woman died in a collision between a bike and a van on Multan Road.

The victim was identified as Ayesha, wife of Boota. The van driver escaped from the scene. Body was shifted to the morgue.
