Students throng The News Education Expo
PESHAWAR: Students from across the province thronged “The News Education Expo 24” on Wednesday where the public and private sector universities had gathered under one roof to showcase their activities at the 33 stalls arranged at the spacious hall .
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor and Chancellor of the Public Sector Universities, Faisal Karim Kundi, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Managing Director Jang Group Senator Sarmad Ali was the guest of honour.
The chief guest visited various stalls and took a keen interest in the expo. He praised the Jang Group for arranging the event that he hoped would help promote higher education in the province.
The governor was happy to see a good number of private institutions having well-attended stalls at the expo. The chief guest urged the government to focus attention on the promotion of higher education and ensure the participation of more and more public sector universities in such healthy activities.
He stressed the provincial government to have a public-private partnership mode for the promotion of primary, secondary and higher education in the province. Prominent among the universities that had established stalls on the occasion included Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Peshawar, Women University Mardan, Frontier law College Peshawar, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute Swabi, Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) Hayatabad, Cecos University Peshawar, Sarhad University Peshawar and others.
A good number of education consultants were present there to facilitate the visiting students and other visitors.Holding an education expo has become a regular feature of the Jang Group. According to Haroon Khan, Marketing Manager of the Jang Group, the expo has been regularly arranged for the past 13 years.
“The Jang Group is the pioneer of holding education expos. The process was started in 2011,” Haroon Khan recalled. He said the universities and degree-awarding institutions were provided an opportunity to have interaction with other institutions. An environment of competition among the institutions is promoted at the expo.
The students are facilitated to get firsthand information about different universities in the province.“The universities get a cheaper and easier outreach to students and other stakeholders at the expo,” Haroon Khan added. The daylong activity was organized beautifully. The students and other visitors showed interest in all the stalls.
