Champions Cup mentors to be paid Rs15 million over three years
LAHORE: The mentors of Champions Cup teams will receive a substantial remuneration package of Rs15 million over a three-year period.
The mentors for the Champions Cup are Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Malik.
Each Champions Cup team will be supported by a 10-member staff, including a head coach, vice coach, manager, and other key roles, ensuring a well-rounded approach to player development and management. This comprehensive support system is designed to provide young players with the best possible guidance and resources to excel in their cricket careers.
With a shortage of quality spinners in Pakistan, the PCB is particularly optimistic about the contribution of Saqlain Mushtaq, who is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing this gap. The board aims to capitalise on the experience of these cricketing legends to refine and mentor new talent, ultimately enhancing the overall strength of the national team.
Waqar Younis, who recently stepped down from his position as an adviser to the PCB chairman, has embraced the mentor role, appreciating the flexibility it offers. This role allows him to contribute to cricket without the constraints of regular office hours, making it an ideal position for someone of his stature.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, still active in the national team setup, remains available for selection, balancing his playing career with his mentoring responsibilities.
Shoaib Malik, despite continuing to play in various T20 leagues and not yet officially retiring, will also lend his expertise to his assigned team during the domestic event.
