Calligraphy, debate contest winners honoured
LAHORE:Punjab Youth Affairs Department organised a prize distribution ceremony for the top position holders of Independence Day calligraphy, speech and debate competitions at SBP E-Library.
DG Youth Affairs Punjab Pervez Iqbal distributed cheques among all the top position holders. He also awarded a special cash prize of Rsten thousand to young competitor Arbab Sakeena.Acknowledging the passion and skills of all the participants in calligraphy, speech and debate competitions, Pervez Iqbal announced to double the cash prizes of all position holders. Pervez Iqbal said that Punjab Youth Affairs Department, as per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, would continue to organise such events. “Our aim is to provide maximum opportunities to talented male and female youngsters from across the province to express their potential in their respective fields. We are also planning to organise even bigger events with greater prize moneyto celebrate Defence Day on September 6 in a befitting manner,” he informed.
Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, SBP officials including Farhat Ehsan and Librarian Shazia Saqlain were also present on this occasion. In Calligraphy contest, the winner Laraib Eman Ali was awarded a cheque of Rs20,000. Runner up Aysha Fatima and third position holder Samara Shahid were given cash prizes of Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 respectively. In debate and speech contests, all the top three position holders were awarded cheques of Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 respectively.
In debate contest, Ali Hassan, Tehzeeb Afzal and Zainul Abedeen spoke in favour of the topic ‘The role of youth in the progress of Pakistan’ and got top three positions while Sahil Hussain, Duriya Batool and Nalain Abbas spoke against the topic and were declared top three performers. All the top three position holders in this contest were awarded cheques of Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 respectively. I-Day Urdu school speech competition, top three position holders M Hassamul Qayyum, Arbab Sakeena and Eshal Maqsood got cheques of Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 respectively. Syeda Haniya Rizwi, Syed M Taqi Zaidi and Tasmia Kashaf were the top three position holders in English school speech contest and were awarded cash prizes of Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 respectively.
