Poisonous food death toll reaches 11 in Khairpur

SUKKUR: Another child, who had consumed poisonous milk and meal in Khairpur, died in hospital on Thursday. The poisonous food death toll reached 11.

4 years old Shadab Brohi who had been admitted to the ICU KMC Civil Hospital Khairpur, died despite being given medical treatment.Four days ago, 12 members of a family had fainted after eating poisonous food in the Haibat Khan Brohi village of Khairpur and 10 of them had died during treatment in the hospital.

Meanwhile a Medical team from Karachi and Civil Hospital Khairpur on Thursday visited a village Haibat Khan Brohi near Pir Jo Goth in Khairpur to collect a sample of water and flour which the family used.They recorded the statements of the relatives of the deceased as well as the area people about the incident.

Medical Superintendent of Khairpur Medical College Civil Hospital Khairpur Ashfaq Ahmed Soomro told a team of doctors from Karachi that all samples were collected from gastric lavage, blood samples, urine samples had sent to food testing and chemical laboratory Sukkur at Rohri for chemical examination and they are waiting a chemical report to establish the cause of death.
