This refers to the letter, ‘Imran’s ambitions’ (May 4) by Umar Sohail. The point raised by the writer is irrefutable. There is no doubt that the burning ambition and the main driving force behind Imran Khan’s efforts and fierce criticism of the Sharifs is to topple their governments. He does not deny his ambition and openly announces his intentions in all his public meetings. Whether he wants power for personal glory or is genuinely pained by the plight of the common man and wants to improve things for the nation is a question that cannot be answered now.
If Imran’s companions have indulged in tax evasion, money laundering and hidden their wealth, they will also have to pay for it and there is no way Imran can save them once proper and transparent accountability is started. But the PM’s family has to be the first one to be held accountable simply because he is the PM and a role model for the rest.
