Heavy to moderate rainfall early on Monday coupled with strong winds broke a week-long spell of hot and humid weather in different cities of Punjab and Northern Areas.

All through the week, the country’s plain areas remained in the grip of heat wave with the temperatures soaring to around 50 degrees Celsius.
According to the PMD, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and parts of Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received heavy to light showers accompanied by strong winds from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday.
Hailstorm was reported in Gujranwala.
Parachinar area of FATA recorded the highest rainfall of 35 millimeters during the last 24 hours.
Twenty millimeters rain was recorded in Rawalpindi, seven in Murree, three in Islamabad, 27 in Saidu Sharif, 21 in Sialkot, nine in Jhelum, eight in Gujranwala and five in Chakwal.
The maximum temperature recorded was 30 degree Celsius in Islamabad, 39 in Lahore, 36 in Karachi, 38 in Peshawar, 31 in Quetta and 29 in Gilgit.
