Imran Farooq murder case
ISLAMABAD: A six-member Scotland Yard team investigating the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq arrived here on Sunday.
The team, headed by Stewart Michael, includes inspection experts and high security officials who will further investigate the money laundering and Imran Farooq murder cases.
Sources told that the team would be briefed on the latest progress in the cases while the members would also be informed about the statements and judicial proceedings against suspects Khalid Shamim, Moazzam Ali and Mohsin Ali.
Earlier, the Scotland Yard contacted Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and asked to provide evidence related to the Imran Farooq murder case.
The FIA also presented an interim challan for the case along with Imran Farooq’s death certificate and directly declared the suspect Mohsin Ali as a murderer while Moazzam Ali and Khalid Shamim were termed facilitators.
Investigation Officer Shahzad Zafar said that Mohsin and Kashif Kamran stabbed Imran Farooq to death.
On December 31 of the previous year, Shamim and Mohsin Ali had confessed to the crime in front of the judicial magistrate in Pakistan.
Shamim had admitted that a key MQM personality wanted to get Farooq out of his way. He said that the directives to assassinate Farooq came from London.
Farooq, 50, a founding member of the MQM was killed in a knife attack in Edgware, northwest London, in September 2010.
