Uthmanzai elders urge govt to honour pledges
BANNU: The elders of Uthmanzai tribe on Wednesday continued the sit-in and blocked the main Mir Ali Road for vehicular traffic to protest the worsening law and order situation in the district.
Long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road were seen stranded due to the blockade of the route, which created great hardships for the passengers and motorists.Addressing the sit-in, the elders, including the chief of North Waziristan Malik Nasrullah Khan, Malik Sanaullah Hamzoni, Malik Jan Faraz, Mufti Baitullah, Malik Akbar Khan, Malik Imshadullah, Malik Aurangzeb Khan and others said that the government should give them their rights as per the Constitution.
They complained that the government had not honoured the pledges made with people and they were being deceived on one pretext or the other.The elders urged the government to take practical steps for the restoration of lasting peace and development of the area.They said that it was the prime responsibility of the state and the government to maintain peace and provide protection to the people and their property.
