Start accountability or someone else will do it: Baloch
LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said that if the democratic forces did not hold their own accountability, some other institution would do that.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, he announced the schedule for the JI Train March in connection with its corruption-free Pakistan movement, the JI leader said that the parliament and the masses would have to be on the same page to ensure a thorough accountability.
According to the schedule, the Train March will begin from Peshawar on May 25 with a public meeting to be addressed by JI chief Senator Sirajul Haq. The train march will board the Awami Express and reach Lahore the same evening. The JI chief will address rallies at different railway stations on the way, including Nowshera, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujrat and Gujranwala. On May 26, the Train March will resume by Khyber Mail from Lahore to Rohri. The JI chief will address the rallies at major stations on the route. On May 27, it will move from Rohri by Awami Express and reach Karachi in the evening, and will end with a public meeting in Karachi.
Two bogies of these trains have already been booked for Train March. Liaquat Baloch said that a change could not be possible by sitting at home and added that if the people wanted a revolution, they would have to come on roads. He said that corruption had been getting roots in the country because the corrupt forces had been protecting one another.
He said that the government and the opposition would have to agree at terms of reference to carry ahead the process of accountability. If they failed in this, the masses may lose patience and the result could be disastrous, he warned.
Meanwhile, a meeting in the JI Media Cell, chaired by JI Information Secretary Ameerul Azim, on Sunday reviewed the preparations for the Train March and expressed satisfaction in this respect.
The JI has also released a video of one minute duration on the Train March on social media. The JI leaders said thousands of JI workers would see off the Train March in Peshawar while nearly 300 party workers would travel from Peshawar to Karachi. Nazir Ahmed Janjua has been appointed central coordinator of Train March.
