LAHORE: The Home Department of Punjab has initiated communications with the Home Departments of Sindh and Balochistan to facilitate police parties from Punjab in their efforts to arrest the accused involved in kidnapping of girls from Data Darbar, Lahore.
According to sources, there are at least 15 cases of kidnapped girls linked to Sindh and Balochistan. The Punjab Police aim to recover the girls and apprehend the accused from remote areas of Sindh, Qalat and Zhobe. However, they are facing significant challenges due to the prevailing Jirga system and the influence of powerful local tribes and Sardars.
The sources revealed that the girls were lured to Data Darbar with false promises of jobs and prosperity. Once abducted, they were transported to the remote areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Efforts by the Punjab Police to rescue them have often been thwarted as local police allegedly tip the accused, enabling their escape. In response to these challenges, the Home Department of Punjab has engaged with higher authorities in Sindh and Balochistan to ensure coordinated efforts. This collaboration aims to not only recover the kidnapped girls but also arrest the perpetrators.
A source claimed that as past efforts focused solely on recovering the kidnapped girls, the current directive emphasized the need to apprehend the accused as well, ensuring that justice is served.
