Customs officials apprised of hurdles to border trade
PESHAWAR: A delegation of businessmen has apprised the newly appointed chief collector of Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about hurdles to the cross-border trade and gave him proposals for improving the situation.
According to a press release, a delegation of the Frontier Customs Clearing Agents Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led by its president Ziaul Haq Sarhadi met the newly appointed Custom Collector KP, Nasir Jamil, in Model Customs House.
The delegation consisted of the association’s senior vice president, Khalid Shehzad, Vice President Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, Secretary General Mian Wahid Bacha and executive committee member Shakeel Ahmad.
Sarhadi greeted Nasir Jamil over assuming the charge. He took up with the senior official the hurdles to Pak-Afghan trade, especially problems that were being faced by importers and exporters and Customs clearing agent.
He expressed the hope that newly appointed official would take proactive measures to remove problems with trade routes including Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, Torkham and Azakhel Dryport and Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar to streamline process and cross-border trade.
Later, the delegation held a separate meeting with Director Transit Trade Customs Amjadur Reham and apprised him about the Temporary Admission Document (TAD) and issues in transit trade. Several proposals were made for the removal of the hurdles.
The delegation called on Collector Customs Enforcement Ziaulllah Shams and Additional Collector D.I Khan Inamullah Wazir during which issues of business community and trade and exports were discussed.
