City receives more moderate monsoon showers

Moderate rainfall lashed Karachi for the third consecutive day on Friday, with the highest rainfall of 32.5 millimetres recorded in Keamari.

Meanwhile, 12.5mm of rain was recorded at the PAF Faisal Base, and in Saddar, 10m of rain fell. Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani visited various parts of the city after the rains, including the District East, and contacted all town chairmen and deputy commissioners. He gave instructions for deploying machinery and staff for water drainage.

Rainfall was reported in various areas, including MT Khan Road, Sultanabad and Hijrat Colony in District Keamari, various parts of Sharea Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Safoora Goth, Hassan Square, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road and MA Jinnah Road.

Nazimabad Habib Bank Chowrangi, SITE, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir and the areas around the airport also received moderate rain. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted one or two spells of heavy rains in Karachi from August 4 to 7 in a new weather forecast as areas of the port city experienced drizzling and light to moderate rain on Friday.

Notably, the weather department cautioned that as many parts of the metropolis can experience rainfall between 40mm to 60mm, a few areas are also likely to see record rainfall of 100mm during the probable upcoming spell. According to the weather office, the metropolis is also likely to experience rain showers on Saturday (today).
