KARACHI: The winning streak of Pakistan’s U18 volleyball team came to an end on Friday as they faced their first defeat in the Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship, falling 3-1 to Japan in the Super 8 stage.
This was Pakistan’s first defeat in the tournament after four consecutive wins. Despite the setback, Pakistan made history by securing a spot in the semi-finals for the very first time. The super 8 game against Japan started on a high note for Pakistan as they clinched the first set. However, Japan showcased their resilience and turned the tide with a dramatic tiebreaker win in the second set. The Japanese team then dominated the final sets to complete the win with scores of 25-22, 26-28, 18-25, and 15-25.
