Islamabad lady constable dismissed for viral video
Islamabad:The Federal Capital Police authorities have dismissed a lady police constable from service, while several others are under inquiry for uploading videos in their police uniforms on social media. The dismissed lady cop's culpability was evident in her dismissal order, as her video went viral, causing embarrassment to the Islamabad police.
The dismissal order stated: "It has been observed with grave concern that a video went viral on social media in which Lady Constable MN, presently posted at Dolphin ERU, Islamabad, was making videos of her acts while wearing official uniform, using an official vehicle, and uploading them on social media. The video was tagged to senior officers of ICT Police, which caused embarrassment and brought a bad name to the department. Her act is intolerable at any cost and against the norms of the disciplined force."
Although directions had been given to all officers/officials to avoid such acts during duty hours, she failed to comply. Consequently, she wilfully violated the prescribed discipline and conduct rules of the government, leading to her dismissal under the legal provisions of Punjab Police (E&D) Rules, 1975 duly adopted by ICT Police.
The inquiry officer found her guilty of gross misconduct and recommended stern disciplinary action. Additionally, at least 10 lady cops are under investigation for similar violations, using police uniforms, displaying guns, and using police vehicles on social media videos. Those found guilty will be punished according to rules and regulations.
One officer attributed the wrongful actions of the accused lady cops to poor training and the failure of their command to educate them about their real duties and responsibilities. This officer also criticised the negative and brutal training methods observed in the male police force, which often involves physical abuse and the use of abusive language. The officer emphasized the need to improve training methods and the behaviour of the top command towards their subordinates.
