MANSEHRA: The residents of Kamila in Upper Kohistan on Saturday took out a rally and staged a sit-in on Karakoram Highway to protest against prolonged power outages in the town and its suburbs.
“We have been experiencing 20 hours of power outages. And we will block the KKH for an indefinite period if the current spate of prolonged loadshedding continues,” Sirajuddin Shamat, a local, told protesters.
Carrying placards, the protesters marched on Karakoram Highway and staged a sit-in at the entrance to the artery, blocking traffic to all sorts of traffic for over two hours.
They also raised slogans against Peshawar Electric Supply Company and its high-ups demanding an end to power outages.
The passengers travelling on KKH were stranded for hours in the scorching heat due to the protest.
The artery was cleared to traffic following local police officers approached the protesters and assured them to take up their demands with the Pesco high-ups.
