Cop martyred, 2 injured in Mohmand, Swat attacks

PESHAWAR: Police came under attack in Mohmand and Swat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.In Mohmand, one policeman was martyred in the Anbar area when a patrolling party came under attack, officials said, adding, the police retaliated the fire and a search operation was launched in the area after the attack.

Meanwhile, two cops were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a checkpost in the Landa Kai area of Swat district.The assailants fired from a hilltop targeting the checkpost, an official said, adding, a polio worker also sustained injuries in the crossfire. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital in Barikot.Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police was dispatched to the area.
