ISLAMABAD: Central Naib Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Liaquat Baloch has warned the government against creating hurdles in the way of JI sit-in starting at D Chowk of the federal capital on Friday (July 26).
Addressing a press conference here, the JI Naib Ameer said that Jamaat’s protest would spread across the country if any attempt made to stop the party leaders and worker stage sit-in at D Chowk. He made it clear on the government that it was constitutional, democratic and political right of JI to stage sit-in in the federal capital for an indefinite period against over-burdening masses with taxes and unprecedented price hike.
Baloch said it is the demand of JI to the government review agreements with IPPs, reduction in tariffs of electricity and gas and prices of petroleum products and withdraw additional burden of taxes. JI Central Naib Ameer Mian Aslam and Islamabad Ameer Nasarullah Randhawa were also present on the occasion. Liaquat Baloch observed that the incumbent government while surrendering before the IMF has imposed worst kind of economic system on the country and its people. “Agenda of sit-in is very clear that the government should give relief to people, withdraw all the additional taxes and reduce electricity and gas tariffs and prices of petroleum products,” he maintained.
