Dealers assure minister of maintaining poultry prices
LAHORE:Poultry Association have assured Minister for Livestock of maintaining the prices of chicken up to Rs600 per kg, which is the current official notified price.
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani met the stakeholders and representatives of Poultry Association in City. Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin was also present on the occasion.
In the meeting, the supply chain and prices of chicken were reviewed. Furthermore, various options were considered regarding the mechanism of determining the prices of chicken. Secretary Livestock Punjab said in the briefing that in the last 10 days, the price of chicken had increased by Rs200 per kg.
In the meeting, the representatives of the Poultry Association apprised the minister of their problems and concerns. The minister assured them of solving the legitimate problems of the Poultry Association on a priority basis.
On this occasion, the provincial minister said that the chief minister's first priority was to give relief to the people. She wants the prices of chicken to be determined in consultation with all stakeholders. She said that mutual cooperation between the livestock department and poultry stakeholders should be strengthened.
The government wants the chicken to be cheap so that the common man can buy it. The current rate of chicken is high, if it is reduced, the government wants to facilitate the poultry industry, the minister maintained.
Stakeholders and representatives of the Poultry Association assured the minister of bringing the price of chicken up to Rs600 per kg in the next two days. Secretary Livestock Punjab Masood Anwar, Secretary Industries Ehsan Bhatta, DG Livestock (Research) Sajjad Hussain, DG (Extension) Asif Sahi and DG Industries Asif Ali Farrukh besides Chairman Punjab Poultry Association Rana Qasim, President Punjab Poultry Traders Association Tariq Javed and representatives of Broiler Farmers Association participated in the meeting.
