Three ice factory workers drown in Dir
DIR: Three ice factory workers drowned in a flash flood in the Usheri area of Upper Dir.According to local police, the incident occurred when a flood washed away the workers at Katan Payeen, near the Panjkora River, late on Saturday night.
The victims were identified as Gauhar, 28, Nazir, 30, and Abdur Rehman Khan, 32. Residents and rescuers reported that the workers were employed at an ice factory located on the riverbank in Katan Payeen. The factory was struck by floodwater following lightning and torrential rains in the upper part of the Usheri Dara.
Rescue 1122 divers, civil defence volunteers, and locals promptly reached the scene. They recovered the body of Abdur Rehman from the river at Usherai and Gauhar’s body at Khall in Lower Dir on Sunday. The search operation for Nazir continued throughout the day.
