TAKHT BHAI: The teachers and other staff of the Working Folks Grammar School on Tuesday set up a hunger strike camp against the non-payment of salaries for four months.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of demands. The protesters first gathered on the Mardan-Malakand road and blocked it for traffic.
The protesting teachers and other employees later set up a protest camp outside the school in Takht Bhai.
Talking to reporters, Nasir Khattak and Sherzada said that they had not received salaries for the last four months.
They said their families were facing financial problems due to non-payment of the salaries. They also demanded regularisation of services.
Tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Khan and Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Khan visited the camp and held talks with the protesters.
