Over 125,000 farmers apply for Kisan Card
LAHORE: Kisan Card is a farmer-friendly initiative of the Punjab government and farmers are taking greater interest in getting themselves registered in this connection.
This was stated by Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo while presiding over a meeting at Agriculture House, Lahore. He added that so far, more than 125,000 farmers have registered for Kisan Card. He said that 5 lakh farmers across the province would benefit from Kisan Card which would become the identity of farmers in real sense.
He made it clear that in the future, all facilities under Agriculture Department would be provided through Kisan Card. During the meeting, secretary directed to speed up the ongoing awareness campaign regarding the registration of Kisan Card.
He directed the field formations of Agriculture Extension and Water Management Department to play an active role in the registration of Kisan Card. All resources and means of awareness should be used for boosting the registration of Kissan Card. Representatives of Agriculture Department, Bank of Punjab, PITB, PLRA, NADRA and PMD participated in the meeting.
