Pakistan women aim for redemption in ODIs against England
LAHORE: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team is gearing up for a critical three-match ODI series against England, starting on Thursday (today) at the County Ground in Derby.
This series holds significant weight as it’s part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 cycle. Pakistan are currently sitting in fifth place with 16 points. The top five teams, along with the host nation India, will secure direct qualification for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
Despite the setback in the preceding T20I series, where England emerged victorious 3-0, Pakistan’s opening batter, Sidra Amin, expresses unwavering focus on the upcoming ODIs. “We are fully focused and eager to put on a good performance in the upcoming ODIs against England,” Amin declared. “We believe in our capabilities and are focused on executing our plans well.”
Squads:
Pakistan: Nida Dar (C), Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali (wk), Najiha Alvi (wk), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, Waheeda Akhtar.
