Pakistan held to 1-1 draw by New Zealand

KARACHI: Pakistan’s last league match of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 against New Zealand ended in a 1-1 draw in Ipoh here on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan managed 11 points having remained unbeaten with three wins and two draws in five matches. Pakistan, which won the bronze medal in the last event, will lock horns with Japan in this year’s final on Saturday (today).
Both teams failed to score a goal until half-time. New Zealand managed to score a field goal in the 35th minute. Pakistan scored a goal in the 43rd minute on a penalty corner through Abu Bakr. Six teams are participating in the event: hosts Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Canada.
