289 raids conducted on drug dealers’ hideouts
LAHORE: Punjab Police continued the crackdown to eradicate the scourge of drugs and targeted operations have been accelerated under the ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ campaign.
A total of 289 hideouts of drug dealers were raided across the province during the last 24 hours arresting 127 accused and registering 127 cases involved in the heinous drug trade. Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that 57 kg of charas, three kg of heroin and 1,325 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused.
He further said that during the special operation since February 26, 20,015 raids were conducted on the bases of drug dealers across the province, 9,845 accused were arrested while registering 9,334 cases against accused involved in nefarious business. 6,342 kg of charas, 109 kg of heroin, 34.5 kg of ice, 218 kg of opium and 123,152 liters of liquor were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
