Favourite Manat wins May Cup on day of upsets

LAHORE: Favourite Manat claimed the May Cup on a day of upsets at the Lahore Race Club on Sunday. The May Cup, which was the fourth race of the day, went entirely by the book with Manat surging ahead as anticipated. Similarly, Bella Viste, also predictably claimed second spot and so did Phantom by securing third position.

However, the day started with an upset with Self Belief overpowering the rivals as well as hot conditions and was to the surprise of all followed by Tatla Choice at second position. But Flash Fire, which was on fluke, settled for third place.

Lalay De Jaan took a wide gallop to win the second race. Favourite Absolutely Not had to be content with place while Macs surprised by taking the third position. The third race was won by Kuwait Edition while Moni Prince, which was on fluke, took the place and favourite Lickhvir was pushed down the ladder to the third position.

In the fifth race, Quality Steel having a fluker tag surprised everyone by turning out to be the winner ahead of surprise second Desert Crown and an unexpected third Maxi Macs. In the final race of the day, Bio Care that was nowhere among the top favourites jumped to the winning spot and similar performance was given by Wynx at second place while Treasure Trip took the third position.
