ISLAMABAD: Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) Tuesday decided to reach out to the civil society and all schools of thought, including bar councils and lawyers across the country, and said the rule of law and independent judiciary are core points of their struggle.
The Tehreek meeting was held here, which was chaired by its head Mahmood Khan Achakzai and attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Asad Qaiser, BNP Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Sardar Shafiq Tareen, Sanaullah Baloch, Akhundzada Hussain Yousafzai and Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan (MWMP) Central General Secretary Syed Nasir Shirazi. According to the Tehreek spokesman, the meeting reviewed the overall political situation in the country and discussed in detail the motives and consequences of the letter written by six judges of the Islamabad High Court. The meeting also reviewed the implications of the proceedings of the Supreme Court.
The forum demanded that all possible avenues of interference in the judiciary should be closed and efforts should be made to ensure independence of judiciary. The meeting said the release of innocent captive workers, especially women workers, including founder chairman PTI Imran Khan, is necessary for the supremacy of the Constitution.
The meeting said that the forced disappearance of missing persons is unconstitutional and immoral and unacceptable and the leaders demanded that all innocent missing persons be released. It strongly condemned the Israeli aggression and Palestinian genocide in Gaza and demanded the Foreign Office play a full role in supporting the Palestinians and a clear and courageous role on ceasefire.
