MANSEHRA: The police arrested a man for allegedly uploading sacrilegious contents on social media accounts, police officials said on Tuesday.
“We have arrested a man for uploading sacrilegious contests on facebook and other social media accounts after a group of locals filed a written complaint against him,” Waheed Murad, the SHO of Oghi Police Station, told reporters here.
He said that a group of people led by Mufti Momin Khan Usmani, the prayer leader of central mosque Farooq Azam Khattai, had submitted a written complaint with the superintendent of police Oghi Police Division last week.
“The preliminary investigation, which was launched on the written complaint of the locals, led to the arrest of the suspect under sections 295 Ppc and 298-C,” Murad said. “The sacrilegious contests, which were being uploaded on the social media repeatedly by its account holder could trigger law and order situation as it hurts sentiments of Muslims,” said the FIR quoting an extract of the written complaint.The clerics from different schools of thought assembled in Oghi and announced to pursue that case in court of law.
