LAHORE : Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa inaugurated wheat harvesting in Lahore division with driving a harvester machine in Minhala village here on Saturday.

On this occasion dignitaries of Minhala village, farmer leaders and district officers were also present. Randhawa was given a warm welcome on his arrival at Minhala village and was also given a traditional turban of Punjab. Commissioner Lahore said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif was taking good steps for the welfare of farmers and the development of agriculture and based on the farmer-friendly policies of the Punjab government, there will be further development in the agriculture sector. Commissioner Lahore said that this year, wheat has been cultivated on 1480,000 acres in Lahore division, which was more area than last year and it was expected that we will get 218,520 tons of wheat production at the rate of 39.50 tons per acre. Commissioner Lahore informed that in 2023-24 wheat production will increase further on the basis of training provided to 68,000 farmers in 3,080 farmer training workshops at the village level, good seeds, soil fertility and modern technology. Besides this, the farmers of Pakistan also have the ability to work hard under the slogan of "Dab Kay Waah, Tay Raj Kay Khaa". Randhawa also prayed for the fertility of the land and the best production of wheat along with the farmers and said that we thank Allah Almighty who made the lands of Punjab fertile and gave the wheat crop.

Later, the Commissioner Lahore visited the RO offices of three constituencies established in UET to examine the practical measures and arrangements in the by-election 2024. He reviewed the delivery of polling materials, provision of transport and monitoring for the by-elections.

Commissioner Lahore also visited the goods delivery counters where he was told that 70% of the goods have been delivered. He said that all goods and transport from the counters to the presiding officers from the RO offices established in the UET were being uninterruptedly supplied.

Commissioner said that all the departments were in full communication with the presiding officers and were cooperating fully.

He directed that all personnel should perform their duties with team spirit otherwise DRO and ARO’s will take strictest action against the absent staff from any place. DIG Operations Lahore Ali Nasir Rizvi informed the Commissioner Lahore about the security arrangements being made for the by-elections. Commissioner Lahore was also briefed on polling scheme on behalf of RO NA-118, RO PP-147 and RO PP-149. Furthermore, Commissioner Lahore made a surprise visit to Garhi Shahu area to check the supply of roti and naan according to official prices and weight at various tandoors.

He said that the official price of 100 grams of roti in Lahore and Kasur was 16 rupees and the price of 120 grams of naan was 20 rupees while the price of roti in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts was 15 rupees and the price of naan was 20 rupees.
