MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department on Wednesday launched a crackdown against hoarders and profiteers selling wheat flour at exorbitant prices in the district.

“We have arrested a wholesaler who was selling a 20kgs of wheat flour bag for Rs2500, instead of Rs2300 and sealed his shop and godowns dumped with hundreds of bags,” said Assistant Food Controller Shaukat Sultan.

He said a joint team of police and Food Department visited the city and its suburbs to ensure that wheat flour was being sold at a price fixed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.“Our teams have also been visiting Oghi, Balakot, Baffa-Pakhal and Darband tehsils and the rest of Mansehra to ensure that nobody challenges the writ of the government,” Sultan said.He added that the joint teams also warned traders to sell commodities at prices fixed by the government, or else they would face stern actions and their shops and godowns would also be sealed.
