CM orders security measures for today’s public meeting at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has instructed the police and administration to make adequate arrangements for the security and traffic management for a public gathering that is scheduled for today (Sunday) at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in connection with the death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The CM gave the instructions on Saturday while presiding over a meeting of the committee managing the mausoleum of Bhuttos in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. The meeting was held at the CM House and attended by provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon and Nasir Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and Chief Metrologist Sarfraz Khan.

Minister Home Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Larkana Commissioner Mustafa Phul and others attended the meeting through video link.

The CM directed the Larkana administration to increase the number of security walk-through gates from 40 to 56 at the mausoleum ensuring easy access for the public attending the meeting.

He also stressed the need for appropriate traffic arrangements for the easy flow of people to and from the venue. The CM was informed that separate entry and exit points had been designated for parking around the Mazar compound.

Shah instructed the Larkana administration to coordinate with the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the public meeting. Additionally, standby generators must be arranged to ensure backup power, he said. The IGP briefed the CM about the security and traffic arrangements for the occasion.

Meanwhile, the CM directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), town administration, Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation and other relevant agencies to ensure proper maintenance of storm water drains and drainage system in view of the forecast of thunderstorm.

The CM asked the KMC and other agencies to remove signboards, as well as other weak structures to prevent their fall during the expected rain and blustery weather.

He also directed the chief secretary to issue similar instructions to all the local government and civic agencies throughout Sindh in view of the rain forecast.

Additionally, the CM directed the police to assist the district administration all over Sindh in case of any eventuality.

Shah has also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of four children in a wall collapse incident that occurred in the village of Ramzan Unar in New Saeedabad, District Matiari.

He directed the deputy commissioner of Matiari to visit the bereaved family and provide assistance to them.

Shah has offered condolences over the deaths of two army men who were martyred while conducting an operation against terrorists in Buner. He has also condemned the terrorist attack in Nushki, Balochistan, where innocent people were killed by terrorists.
